The Virgin Labfest is a yearly celebration of original one-act plays by new and aspiring playwrights. Each day comes with a Set and each Set comes with three newly staged plays.
This is probably the most delightful podcast in our VLF discussion series. Ibarra and I are both happy to share our joy after seeing this wonderful entry as staged by a group of young and fresh actors. Eljay Castro Deldoc’s SI MARIA ISABELLA AT ANG GURYON NG MGA TALA is arguably a gem in the history of Virgin Labfest. But that’s just me. That being said, go rush to the CCP while there is still time to catch Set D on Sunday! Please! After seeing it, you will understand why some people brave storms and hails just so we could catch a play.
This is our last podcast for our VLF 2015 series. If opportunity would allow, we will continue with this series in next year’s Virgin Labfest. On behalf of the JellicleBlog, we would like to congratulate the people who have made this year’s festival a success.
At last, we are done with all the 15 podcasts for each of this year’s VLF entry, and we can say that we close with with wonder and awe as we discuss SI MARIA ISABELLA AT ANG GURYON NG MGA TALA. I thank you, jellicle listeners and readers for giving us a chance and for making this podcast series a success.
Congratulations to the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the Writer’s Bloc Inc., Tanghalang Pilipino and to the National Commission for Culture and the Arts. Super hugs and a firm salute to the uber-dedicated Festival Director and Dramaturg of this year’s VLF Mr. Tuxqs Rutaquio, who have bravely accepted the challenge to head this great task of curating the Sets we have seen and loved.
Finally, I thank Mr. Ibarra C. Mateo for gracing the first series of the Jellicle Podcasts. The reception and the feedback that we have been getting only goes to show that there is hope in this form. I love you, Inay!
The Virgin Labfest will still run until Sunday, July 12 at the CCP. Ano pang hinihintay ninyo? Magpa-devirginize na!
