Hello, jellicle readers! Now that I had my first Virgin Labfest experience, I’m happy to say that I’ve finally been “de-virginized“. This year, The Virgin Labfest is at its 11th year, and has been making waves across the theater circles in Metro Manila. Ako naman, ngayon ko lang siya na-experience.
Pero OK lang. Happy pa rin. Tiring minsan, pero happy.
This time, however, I’ve decided to do something different. I’m not yet sure if this would work, but giving it a try is a big step in itself. My friend, Ibarra Mateo, and I have decided to podcast our post discussions on the plays, to share our insights, analysis and reactions sa mga entries this year.
Ibarra has been a loyal follower of The Virigin Labfest since it started. Naranasan na niya ang lahat ng mga naipalabas noong simulang-simula pa nito. Ako naman, Neneng-nene lang. Kaya pak, diba? Isang sanay na, at isang nag-uumpisa pa lang.
We’ve decided to broadcast our podcast one set a day. Today, Monday, I am happy to share with you our discussion on the entries from SET A.
SET A includes the following entries:
Layeta Bucoy’s UOD, BUTETE AT SI MYRNA
Job Pagsibigan’s WHEN SAM MET JOE
Maynard Manansala’s DALAWANG GABI

This year’s Labfest comes with the theme, SARIWA: Untried, Untested, Unstaged Plays. As always this festival of one-act plays celebrates and gives tribute to new and aspiring playwrights.
Kaya naman itong podcast na ito ay papamagatan naming SUMASARIWA: Unprecedented, Ungrammatical, Unsolicited Reviews.
Why are we doing this? Because we can! Kaya kami mga kritiko. Nakikialam kami ng mga gawa ng may gawa.
