Hi, Jellicle Listeners. It’s been a while since I last did a Podcast. Medyo naging busy lang, wala na ngang oras para magsuklay ng buhok, e.

But as promised, I’m bringing you another podcast interview with one very talented and young ballet dancer from Ballet Manila.

12226962_1491889071112316_7786259787485374414_nAlvin “Vhin” Santos, 30 years old, has been with Ballet Manila since he was 13. He’s one of the best dancers in the company and has won in several international ballet competitions. It’s very interesting to note how Vhin initially just got curious and tried auditioning for ballet when he was in High School many years back. He never had any inclinations on dance, and had never even been a part of a production then. But when Mr. Osias Barroso and Ballet Manila saw his potential, they gave him an opportunity to be part of the School of Ballet Manila.

And the rest was history.

In 2002, Alvin played the lead role in Osias Barroso’s PINOCCHIO. And this year, as Ballet Manila opens its doors to the Filipino audience for their Christmas treat, Vhin returns to reprise his role of the young boy who once wished upon a star.

Osias Barroso’s PINOCCHIO is the third offering in From Page to Stage, Ballet Manila’s 20th performance season. Based on the Italian children’s novel by Carlo Collodi, it was the second animated film produced by Disney, following the success of SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWAFS (1940).

Listen to my interview with Vhin as he talked about his journey from a young boy to a real ballet dancer!
