ORLY S. AGAWIN is a graduate of Philippine Normal University (Manila), where he had his Bachelor in Secondary Education major in English. He has been awarded the Presidential Award for Student Leadership in 2003 for his contribution to the conceptualization and establishment of Republic Act 9163 or the National Student Training Program (NSTP) Act. Immediately after PNU, he earned a Fulbright scholarship in 2003 and presented an academic paper on Teaching Grammar through Contextual Reading at New York University in 2005. In 2009, Orly continued his Master’s Degree at the Philippine Normal University under the Master of Arts in Education major in English Language Teaching Program.
In 2010, Orly was awarded the BPO Training Manager Excellence Award by the Philippine Society for Training and Development (PSTD), for his contribution to academe-industry linkages and leadership training programs for the BPO. He was also one of the Senior Consultants for the Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) for the establishment of the Service Management Program. Since 2012, Orly has been conducting teacher-training seminars and workshops in CHED/IBPAP university partners in the Philippines. In late 2013, he established OSA Training and Educational Services – a consulting network of young professionals on training and development that caters to academic and corporate partners in the Philippines. On the side, Orly continues on pursuing his passion for the arts. Apart from his consultancy and academic work, he is also involved in the promotion of various cultural and arts events in Manila. In 2014, Orly became part of network of artists, art bloggers, and theater critics that promote the recent rise of performing arts in the country. For the past eight years, Orly has written reviews for companies such as Red Turnip Theater, the Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA), Tangahalang Pilipino (TP), 9Works Theatrical, Altantis Productions, Dulaang UP (DUP), Teatro Tomasino, Ballet Philippines (BP), Philippine Ballet Theater (PBT), and Ballet Manila (BP), just to name a few. In 2015, The Jellicle Blog was named as one of the finalist for the 2015 Philippine Blogging Awards.
