_42 Dulaang UP Fuente Ovejuna

Fuente Ovejuna, the last directorial work of much respected veteran actor Sir Tony Mabesa is the second offering of Dulaang UP for their 44th theatre season. It was originally written by the Spanish playwright Lope de Vega in the 1600s and now translated to Filipino by Sir Nicolas “Nick” Pichay. The play was based in a actual historical event, the 1476 uprising of peasants in a Castillan village against their cruel feudal lord Commendador Fernan Gomez De Guzman.

Actors from stage, film and television are featured in the production sharing the stage with talented student-actors: Leo Rialp, Carlo Tarobal, Ross Pesigan, Harriete Damole, Chloe Rialp, Adriana Agcaoili, Francis Mata, Christian Barinaga, Alvin Trinidad, George De Jesus, Greg De Leon, Ricci Chan, Jacques Borlaza, Jojo Cayabyab, Allan Palileo, Bong Antonio, Brian Arda, Fred Layno, and Tristan Bite will take the stage along with the Dulaang UP Ensemble.

Completing the creative team are seasoned designers composed of Faust Peneyra (Set Design), Shax Siasoco (Lights Design & Technical Direction), Jethro Joaquin (Sounds Design), Eric Pineda (Costume Design), Carlo Pagunaling (Hair and Make-up Design), Gaby Pascua (Property Master), Greg de Leon (Musical Director and Composer), Raymond Roldan (Co-composer), Chaz Caberos (Dramaturgy), Stephen Viñas (Choreography), Precious Conn Sy (Promotional Photos), and Steven Tansiongco (Video and Poster Design).
