A good friend, and a fellow follower is starting to be known as an emerging contemporary portait artist in Manila. Gary Alonzo is a multi-talented artist who exercises his creativity in two different ways; Advertising Design and Portraiture. During the day Gary oversees the design for two major ad accounts Taco Bell and Dairy Queen in the Philippines but recently rekindled his passion for drawing and portraiture.

He majored in Fine Arts with a degree in Advertising Arts from the University of Santo Tomas. He’s worked various jobs to support his schooling and passion for art. After a 10 year hiatus he rediscovered his passion for drawing and felt the need to share the talent god has blessed him with and spends his free time doing portraits of friends and Philippine celebrities. His advice to all aspiring artists, “Just be focused. Keep on dreaming and you’ll be successful.”

Here are some of his works.

It’s amazing to see how he interprets his subjects. Fine lines with deep accented shadows, create a certain feel and promote specific emotions in his works.

If you’re interested to have your portraits drawn, you can reach out to Gary through his Facebook page. His can customize your portraits according to how you like it.
