22 Jump Street (2013

We watch sequels with excitement and with caution: it can either exceed its predecessor, or fail miserably. So we watch with care and without too much expectations, clinging only to the hope that we see how the story continues.

But Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller either hit it, or missed it. They just used the same dumb formula of the original franchise and put in a lot more production dollars for a promise of more explosions and cheap, stupid fun.

Surprisingly, it works! 22 JUMP STREET (2013), is one action movie that lets you leave all your theories outside the cinema, and invites you to embrace those stupid antics, ridiculous gags, and birdbrained action. The jokes eventually go bizarre, but the undeniable chemistry between its two leads saves the experience.

By the time you get home, you realize that you have swallowed more disbelief than usual. And it is still OK.

Because sometimes, that’s what movies are for – fun.

Super fun!
