Si Rainne

“Orly!” minsang sinabi n’ya sa akin. “Ikaw si Jellicle. Si Jellicleblog!”

“So?”

“Alam mo bang when I started going through the application process dito sa PS, I googled about the company, at ang blog mo ang isa sa mga una kong nabasa?” sabi n’ya.

“Talaga?” tanong ko.

“Yeah. I wanted to know more about the culture, about the people.

“Nakatulong ba?”

“In a way yes.”

“Positively?”

“I signed the contract, didn’t I?” sagot ni Rainne.

Yes, she’s one of the jellicle readers. Si Lorraine Rafols. Galing sa isang malaking newspaper company, where she stayed for more than 15 years, lumipat siya sa PS last year.

As what I’ve said, she’s a mother. A good, and an affectionate mom.

But there’s more about Rainne.

Yes, Happy World: a company initiative that promotes wellness and awareness among our employees through external outreach activities.

She’s the kind of employee who wants to make the best of her projects, and sincerely works hard to make it happen.

But if there’s one thing about Rainne, it’s her patience at work.

Rainne was also the one who gave me a shoulder to cry on during my turbulent months last year.

If there’s one thing that I’d remember her telling me during those times, it was when she told me a fact about forgetting a lost love: “It will never leave you. It will make you wiser. But it will stay there, Orly. You’ll just learn to live with it.”

Wala pa ata siyang dalawang taon sa station n’ya, na-realize n’yang graveyard shifts wouldn’t work for her. “Kailangan ako ng mga anak ‘ko. I also want to be with them.”

She will be leaving for a different industry this time. Sosyal na kumpanya. Nakakalula.

I can’t help feeling sad about her leaving. I already got used to having her around. Sandali man kaming nagkasama, I never felt this comfortable toward a co-employee. I have always looked forward chatting with her about the books I’m reading or the movies I’ve watched, and I have always been confident that she will listen to me no matter how non-sensical my issues are. Working around Rainne, is one of the things that keep me going.

No. HIndi ako in love kay Rainne. Babae ‘un. Wag kang tanga!

I will miss her stories, much more her presence. But time and family will always demand things we just can’t say no to.

I am writing this post for myself, for Rainne and our friendship. I am also writing this for those who’d, one day, google that smiling mom and come across this site to know more about her.

You will be great, my friend!
