Madalas ko siyang makita sa mga pinapanood ni tatay noon sa CTV31. Nang nalaman kong isa siya sa mga famous gay icons ng Hollywood, minsang napa-isip ako kung bading rin ba si tatay.
I eventually found out na bigshot pala siya. Third year high school ako noon when I learned how big she was. Fourth year high school naman ako when I found out na nakailang husbands siya.
Imortal siya sa pinilakang tabing. One of the real Superstars in Hollywood, she’s one of those that I have really adored.
If you’d like to see how good she is…try looking for her film version of WHO’s AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? (1966). Doon ko nakita ang acting prowess n’ya. Bastos, malikot, violent at maingay. Parang Lucita Sorianong may culture. Hindi ako mapapahiya. Promise!
Now, she has moved on. She died yesterday surrounded by her children (from her previous marriages) and the people that she loved.
At this point in Hollywood history, it is but honorable to take a moment of silence and revere the beauty and talent that once crossed the silverscreen of our childhood.
So long, Liz! Your memory will be with me forever!
